[She almost sends this text on and off in the weeks after the mayor's announcement, and in a lot of ways, she's probably avoiding it. She knows this is going to be the hardest goodbye she's going to have to say, but she needs to say it. She knows that even if Laurel is alive or not, they're never going to have as much time as they should have back home.
( sara's avoided thoughts about the mayor's announcement like the plague; leaving eudio means leaving way too many people that she cares about, too many people that she loves behind. they'd said that incentives will be fulfilled once everyone's sent home, but even if that's the case, sara knows that once she's back, she'll be right back aboard that timeship, expected to lead her team and to right any and all time aberrations, defeat baddies that threaten to change the world one millisecond at a time.
laurel might wake up in her bed one day, seek out their father. she might remember what had happened to her as if it happened in a dream, wonder how exactly she ended up where she is. quentin might wonder about and thank whatever kind god decided to grant him one of his daughter's lives back to him yet again. and sara won't be there.
so the text is more than welcome; any time she can spend with laurel in the next two months is absolutely precious. )
Free pizza? You know I'm game I'll be there soon :)
( you know she's in the right spirit when she's texting smiley faces. sara arrives at laurel's door soon after as promised, knocking. )
You bet. Did I beat the pizza here? ( she asks over her shoulder as she waltzes on in and flops down on laurel's couch. considering she doesn't smell it, she's assuming that it's a yes. )
Thank god. ( sara pulls her legs up onto the couch so she can sit cross-legged, taking a sip of her root beer and then setting the bottle down in the little nest her legs have created. )
I'm trying to get my fill of actual, real food before I have to go back to the fabricated stuff on the Waverider.
( sara sobers a little at that, lets the small smile threatening the corners of her mouth take its rightful place. )
Yeah.
— Yeah, that'd be nice. Maybe once we finally get out of here ...
( she lets that thought linger; look who's finally stopped being so skeptical of everything, be it this city, her incentive, multiple earths... if what the representatives have told them is true, laurel will be alive when sara returns to their world.
traveling through time with her sister sounds pretty damn great. )

But eventually she finally manages to hit send.]
I just ordered a pizza. Want to split it with me?

I'm starving.

[And with that, she will wander into the kitchen, fetching two root beers from the fridge and going to sit down next to her.]
I ordered it just before I called you.

As unappetizing as it sounds, I still wish I could go with you sometimes. Get to travel through time?

We'll do that. We'll do so many things.
[They have the time now. Darhk can't take it from them again. She reaches for her sisters hand and gives it a small squeeze before she continues.]
But I want to go home first. I need to check on Dad - make sure he's okay.
