( sara laughs at herself, 'cause she feels stupid. but she's not really exaggerating; hell, it's why steve giving her that stupid flower when he came over for their very first hook up got her so damn bad. it felt normal, even if it wasn't really what she had been expecting. but then again, steve keeps ending up being the opposite of what she expects. )
[ It actually feels good knowing they're on the same sort of playing field here. Which is why Steve laughs. But he realizes he's laughing and he shuts it down quickly. Because it likely sounds like he's laughing at her. Which he's not. But he should probably clarify that before she hates him forever. ]
I went on double dates a lot back in my time, but my date usually wasn't interested. Both were always more interested in my friend. Wasn't his fault.
[ He never blamed Bucky. He tried really hard to push them into Steve's direction. Even when they clearly showed no interest. ]
After the ice I didn't date for a while and the dates I did have were sorta disasters. It's really difficult for Captain America to have a real date.

( yeah, there's maybe a little confusion on sara's end, but that's okay. she listens to him with rapt attention either way, though she's fairly incredulous as to how in the hell any girl in their right mind could be more into a friend of steve's than steve himself, but she'll table that thought for the moment.

( there are certainly a lot of questions sara has when it comes to steve, especially after their run-in during the earthquake, but none of them would entail an answer that would sway or alter her opinions about him, she doesn't think. he's genuine in a way that sara can hardly fathom; her questions only come out of an actual desire to learn about him, learn about his past, learn about who he is now.
