Not what, who.

In most cultures, he's regarded as the opposite of Saint Nicholas. A nightmarish story that parents tell their misbehaving children to keep them in line, if you will. Instead of bringing presents in the dead of night, he shoves the wicked kids into his sack and steals them away.
[ like most fae, Krampus feeds on humans. humans have spun the story this way and that, but it isn't entirely inaccurate. ] I admit that the tale's a bit old-fashioned.
