If they would kill you for failing that, they do not sound like a league most would join willingly.

They're called the League of Assassins. They're pretty much what the name implies.

In my case, it was basically my only option at the time. I was a goner.

They're more of a myth in my world, but yeah, they're real.

I learned to accept the situation, and in turn, they accepted me. I learned their ways and it essentially made me into who I am today. Even if I'm trying to be better now.

That is an admirable way to view unexpected circumstances. Making the best of the situation and accepting what cannot be changed is logical.

I mean, I don't know anything about your world, but killing is generally pretty frowned upon where I'm from.

But besides that, killing takes a toll on a person. Creates a darkness inside that's hard to stop because it just wants more and more and more and continuously tries to take. But then things happened to me and I decided that I didn't want to live with that darkness anymore, as hard as it would be. Part of the reason why I'm here, I guess.

Killing is definitely frowned upon in my world. As it should be, life is valuable.

If you do not mind the personal inquiry, what things happened? Perhaps it is something that can be used effectively on other people.

My family was in danger so I had to abandon the League even though it was a death sentence in itself to do so. I had to make sure they were okay though and protect them. It kind of forced me to take a step back and look at the course my life had taken and decide to start over.
